Ultrakill Patch 16b Overhauls Arms, Levels, and Graphics Settings

Ultrakill Patch 16b arrives with sweeping changes to weapon behaviors, arm exhaustion meters, and enemy tracking. The update also introduces a universal heat distortion toggle alongside numerous collision and out-of-bounds fixes across multiple chapters.

Patch 16b for Ultrakill delivers a massive list of bug fixes, balance adjustments, and quality-of-life additions. The update touches nearly every aspect of the game, from arm mechanics and weapon logic to level geometry and enemy combat parameters.

Arms and Weapons

Knuckleblaster punch exhaustion is reduced, and early punches no longer artificially increase exhaustion when no strike occurs. Individual arm punch cooldowns now reset to a maximum of 0.1 seconds when switching arms or using the Whiplash. The punch exhaustion meter now appears on Classic HUDs and features recolored visuals for better clarity. Weapon fixes address bugs where variants failed to remember last-used settings, Freeze Frame failed to unfreeze after Core Ejects, and Malicious Railcannons displayed outdated lightning sprites.

Enemies and Combat

Cerberus no longer receives a massive radiance speed bonus on Brutal difficulty, and Cerberi are prevented from dashing off ledges while unraged. Schism beams no longer deal extreme damage after being parried, and potential performance issues linked to Swordsmachines are removed. Leviathan receives performance optimizations in its second phase, alongside a new down-to-size style bonus for parrying its attacks, and boss death sequences in 5-4 and 7-4 now heal the player.

Levels and Environment

Occlusion culling and z-fighting issues are resolved across multiple chapters. The update patches numerous out-of-bounds exploits, broken collisions, and stray geometry across Prelude, Limbo, Greed, Wrath, Heresy, and Violence chapters. Cyber Grind adjustments lock the fog setting minimum below the maximum to prevent visual glitches and ensure starting waves automatically load on level restarts.

General Settings and UI

A universal heat distortion disable option replaces previous chapter-specific toggles. A new disable new shaders graphic option helps fix black screen issues on older hardware, and the death screen now instantly cuts to black on certain kill methods. Additional UI updates clean up controller support for Encore popups and remove lingering sound effects during pauses.

Why this patch matters

Patch 16b is a thorough maintenance update that cleans up lingering bugs across weapons, movement tech, and level boundaries while adding helpful quality-of-life toggles.
