Myst Rime Update Adds New Age, DLSS 4.0, and Quality of Life Fixes

The major Rime update for Myst brings the snowy Age of Rime, DLSS 4.0 support, color-context subtitles, and numerous bug fixes. Players can access the new content after completing the main story.

Cyan has released a major content and quality of life update for Myst, introducing the Age of Rime alongside technical upgrades and bug fixes. The new Age unlocks for players who have completed the story or load a completed save file on Myst Island.

New Content and Features

The Age of Rime introduces a snowy mountainous seascape complete with a laboratory space, narrative beats, and lore. Players can now use the Z key on keyboards or the left bumper on gamepads to zoom in on objects. A new Color Context Subtitles option in Interface settings displays text next to puzzles requiring specific color solutions. Myst Island library visuals also receive updates.

Technical and Performance Updates

DLSS updates to version 4.0 on Windows. Intel XeSS and TSR supersampling are now supported on Windows. Auto detect now sets supersampling based on scalability settings and platform type. Mac players receive a workaround for auto detect that sets settings based on available CPU cores.

Gameplay and Bug Fixes

Cranks no longer malfunction when wound past endpoints. DualSense controllers now work natively on Mac. Deleting a screenshot from the notebook now returns players to the notebook submenu instead of the main menu. A missing material in D'ni is fixed, and the good ending prevents players from linking back to Myst before Atrus finishes speaking. Music persists correctly upon save and load, LOD meshes are adjusted to prevent popping, and object pickup offsets are improved in VR. A rare crash occurring between engage points is also resolved.

Why this patch matters

The Rime update delivers substantial post-game content alongside critical technical additions like DLSS 4.0 and important quality-of-life interface fixes.
