Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades Update 114 Alpha 3 Adds Meat Fortress Scoring and Chat

Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades Update 114 Alpha 3 brings new Meat Fortress weapons, a kill-scoring system, and simulated chat. The update also adds the Snackston Hale Take & Hold character ahead of the main branch release.

Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades has released Update 114 Alpha 3 on the Alpha branch. This update introduces kill scoring, simulated player chat, and new Meat Fortress gear.

New Weapons and Characters

The update adds the Snackston Hale Take & Hold character alongside four firearms created by PieSaavy: the Stonethrower, Noisemaker, Vulture, and PasDeDeux. Players also get new secondary Sosig weapons including a pistol, SMG, and sticky launcher, plus melee options like the saw, balisong, pan, bat, wrench, bottle, kukri, shovel, and axe. Magazine-using Meat Fortress items now feature dedicated pages in the item spawner.

Meat Fortress Scoring and Chat

A new kill-scoring system tracks eliminations for both Sosigs and the player, ending rounds when a kill limit is reached. The Meat Fortress scene now includes a simulated chat system featuring over 1,500 community-submitted account names. This chat displays in the spawn room and floats in front of the player, though it can be toggled off.

Sosig and Combat Rebalances

Sosig enemy templates for the Meat Fortress theme are rebuilt with new secondary, melee, and junkbot bot types. Pathfinding gets an upgrade with new OffMesh Links for additional jumping routes, and parameters are tuned for more dynamic movement. The Meat Fortress pistol is changed to semi-auto, while the Medical 180 and Rosie receive buffs.

System Tweaks and Known Issues

Thermal visibility issues with smoke volumes and various team-handling bugs are fixed. Vault safety checks for ammo are removed to support modded objects, which means loading saves missing custom ammo mods can cause unpredictable behavior. Cartridge boxes do not save or load correctly yet, and resetting windows and doors from the Scene Fight panel is temporarily unavailable.

Why this patch matters

Update 114 Alpha 3 rounds out a testing cycle with automated scoring, expanded loadouts, and community chat before the main branch transition.
