Helldivers 2 Patch v01.002.101 Buffs Spray Weapons and Tweaks FRV Handling

Arrowhead Game Studios released patch v01.002.101 for Helldivers 2, boosting gas duration, reworking the Guard Dog Dog Breath drone, and implementing extensive crash fixes. Sidearm magazine counts, minefield stats, and vehicle stability also see notable improvements.

Helldivers 2 receives a sweeping content update with patch v01.002.101, directly addressing community requests regarding weapon performance, vehicle handling, and stability issues. The Ministry of Truth has authorized longer gas status effects, enhanced sidearm utility, and a complete mechanical overhaul for the Dog Breath backpack drone.

Weapon Balancing and Gas Effects

The duration of the gas status effect applied by spray weapons has been extended from 6 to 10 seconds. The TX-41 Sterilizer support weapon now features removed crosshair drift recoil and decreased camera climb recoil. Sidearms start with 3 magazines instead of 2, and spare magazines have increased from 4 to 5. The Sieger Ready armor passive retains its bugged behavior of supplying extra ammo to all magazine-based weapons rather than primaries alone, while developers evaluate the change. The AX/TX-13 Guard Dog Dog Breath backpack has been reworked to target only enemies unaffected by gas, preserving ammunition and increasing its effective targeting range from 10 to 20 meters while tethering its search origin to the player rather than the drone.

Stratagems and Minefields

Cooldowns for the MD-6 Anti-Personnel Minefield, MD-I4 Incendiary Mines, and MD-17 Anti-Tank Mines have all been reduced from 180 to 120 seconds. Damage for the Anti-Personnel minefield jumps from 350 to 700, and Incendiary mine damage increases from 210 to 300. All three mine types feature a 20 percent wider deployment spread to limit chain-reaction explosions. The SH-20 Ballistic Shield Backpack now successfully blocks melee attacks until structural integrity fails, and the E/AT-12 Anti-Tank Emplacement receives its proper armor penetration tag.

FRV Handling and Player Movement

The Fast Recon Vehicle has been reinforced to prevent minor parking accidents from causing catastrophic explosions. Camera behavior has been tuned to prevent getting stuck underground when descending hills, and drop locations on rooftops are less frequent. Helldivers can now jog while carrying two-handed items like barrels and SEAF artillery rounds, and are authorized to throw grenades and deploy stratagems while leaning out of the FRV. Ragdoll mechanics have been adjusted so that blasting into vehicles or shallow water no longer launches objects into space or traps players in gliding animations.

Crash Fixes and Stability

Arrowhead resolved numerous crash triggers tied to mission aborts with active Democracy Space Station effects, hot-joining active sessions, rapid emote switching, heavy projectile fire, and reloading primary weapons. Matchmaking logic has been updated to better pair players with nearby regions and matched lobby difficulties. Health packs now consistently restore all stims, and high-damage weapons will properly detonate spawned map Hellbombs.

Why this patch matters

Patch v01.002.101 significantly improves tactical flexibility through gas buffs, heavy sidearm capacity expansions, and essential stability fixes.
