Helldivers 2 Patch 1.001.202 Fixes SOS Beacons and Flag Missions

Helldivers 2 patch 1.001.202 addresses soft locks, lowers enemy spawn rates during Spread Democracy flag missions, and resolves bugs with SOS beacons keeping lobbies public. The update also fixes radial menu cursor snapping on PC.

Arrowhead Game Studios released a focused patch for Helldivers 2 targeting session connectivity, crash issues, and mission pacing on Spread Democracy objectives.

Mission and Combat Fixes

Enemy spawn rates have been decreased during the progression of the Raise Flag objective in Spread Democracy missions. A crash occurring when players or hot-joiners first spawn into a mission has been resolved, alongside a rare crash tied to viewing the minimap while holding carriable items.

Connectivity and SOS Beacons

SOS beacons now continue searching for additional players for the remainder of a mission rather than being destroyed when a squad fills up. They instead deactivate until a player leaves and reactivates the search. Deploying an SOS beacon now correctly forces lobbies to remain public for the duration of the mission, fixing previous bugs where non-public lobbies could not be joined after beacon deployment. Beacons are still destroyed upon host migration to let new hosts decide on beacon placement.

UI and Input Adjustments

Mouse and keyboard users will no longer experience cursor snapping to the outer edges of the drop, emote, and comms wheels in radial menus. Holding the last stratagem input no longer prevents movement on default PC controls. Additional fixes restore missing player names and chat text after returning from missions and correct friend status visibility for users with large friend lists.

Why this patch matters

Patch 1.001.202 delivers reliability fixes for lobby matchmaking and SOS beacons, smoothing out cooperative multiplayer sessions.
