Helldivers 2 Patch 01.001.201 Reverts Punisher Plasma Nerfs and Fixes Soft-Locks

Arrowhead rolls back recent adjustments to the SG-8P Punisher Plasma, giving the weapon a slower start, longer maintained speed, and a magazine increase to 10 rounds. The latest update also tackles persistent mission-halting bugs, crash triggers, and social menu snags.

Helldivers 2 receives a substantial update with Patch 01.001.201, headlined by a complete reversion of the production changes made to the SG-8P Punisher Plasma. Alongside weapon adjustments, the patch targets critical progression blockers, mission soft-locks, and matchmaking annoyances that have plagued recent operations.

Weapon Balancing and Stratagems

The SG-8P Punisher Plasma reverts to its older projectile behavior, featuring a more noticeable arc that starts slower and maintains speed longer, alongside an increased magazine capacity from 8 to 10 rounds. Reload durations for both the AR-23A Liberator Carbine and the MG-43 Machine Gun are correctly implemented at 2.5 and 4.5 seconds respectively. The Shield Generator Relay lifetime increases from 30 to 40 seconds, while the LAS-5 Scythe scope is fully operational with correct zoom functionality.

Mission Flow and Objective Fixes

Several top-priority encounter issues are resolved, including a bug where enemy spawns permanently shut down and encounters failed to end. Hive breaker drills and terminals no longer become inaccessible during critical objectives. Nuke Nursery missions see fixes for drill placement on top of bug corpses, and Retrieve Data objective counts for Automatons now match Terminid levels.

Crash and Soft-Lock Resolutions

A wide assortment of stability fixes address crashes on Difficulty 1 bug holes, fog destruction, flamethrowers, gas weapons, and the Armory interface. Soft-locks tied to Geological Survey missions, Nuke Nursery drills called down simultaneously by multiple players, and hot-joining during mission summaries are patched out.

Social and Interface Improvements

Quickplay lobbies and the social menu receive numerous reliability adjustments. Friends invite-only games no longer appear on the Galactic War hologram or allow uninvited players to join via the social menu. PC players can use the left click to select radial menu options for emotes and communications, and the maximum friend display limit is lifted past 100.

Why this patch matters

Patch 01.001.201 delivers stability to matchmaking and mission progression while walking back weapon tweaks to restore player choice.
