Dead by Daylight Update 8.5.1 Patch Notes Fixes Nightmare Bugs and Houndmaster Issues
Dead by Daylight patch 8.5.1 adjusts The Nightmare's Black Box add-on, resolves map collision bugs, and prepares for the return of the 2V8 game mode.
Behaviour Interactive has released update 8.5.1 for Dead by Daylight, delivering bug fixes for Killers, survivor bots, and map navigation alongside adjustments to The Nightmare.
The Nightmare Tweaks and Add-On Fixes
The Nightmare receives base changes including visual effects when teleporting to a healing Survivor. The Black Box add-on now blocks exit gates for sleeping survivors for 15 seconds after opening, lingering for 3 seconds after they wake up. Multiple teleportation bugs, audio loops, and out-of-bounds placement issues with Dream Pallets and Dream Snares have also been resolved.
Houndmaster and Killer Bug Fixes
Fixes address issues where the Houndmaster's dog could get stuck on ledges or fail to pass through doorways. The update also resolves an exploit where the Houndmaster's Chase Command could repeatedly grab survivors attempting to leave through exit gates, and fixes an issue allowing Killers to pick up downed survivors while searching lockers.
Survivor and Bot Pathing Improvements
Survivor bot pathing and healing logic against ranged Killers have been improved. A bug preventing survivors from completing the Snap Out interaction in Madness Tier 3 has been fixed, along with a fix for Clairvoyance using a progress bar.
Upcoming Events and Map Collision Fixes
The 2V8 game mode returns on February 10th with an event tome featuring Resident Evil-themed rewards. Map fixes correct navigation issues in Forgotten Ruins, Raccoon City Police Station, Dead Dawg Saloon, and Mother's Dwelling.
Why this patch matters
Patch 8.5.1 clears out a massive backlog of map clipping bugs, fixes specific Killer exploits involving The Nightmare and Houndmaster, and sets the stage for the upcoming 2V8 mode rerun.
