Dead by Daylight Update 10.2.0 Adds In-Match Messaging and Overhauls Dozens of Perks
Dead by Daylight Update 10.2.0 introduces the Survivor Intent System for text communication, restructures match exit conditions, and delivers massive rework sweeps to starting perks for both Killers and Survivors.
Dead by Daylight Update 10.2.0 brings the Survivor Intent System, letting teammates exchange preset text messages during trials using a dedicated communication wheel. Alongside this feature, Behavior Interactive has restructured match-ending conditions for bot-heavy lobbies and completely revised dozens of beginner perks for both Killers and Survivors.
Survivor Intent System and Match Exit Changes
Survivors can send preset text messages during matches via a communication wheel opened by a mouse scroll-button or controller d-pad input. The system enforces an anti-spam cooldown ranging from one to five seconds. Players can mute teammates or opt out entirely through the settings menu. Match-ending mechanics also change. If all other Survivors turn into bots, the remaining human Survivor can abandon the trial. Killers gain similar abandon and end-trial options when remaining Survivors are bots, while simultaneous dying states for all Survivors now trigger a surrender option.
Killer Perk Overhauls
Dozens of Killer perks receive balance updates. Agitation grants an 14, 16, or 18% Haste bonus while carrying a Survivor, while Unrelenting shortens missed basic-attack cooldowns by up to 40% and adds a 10% shorter successful attack cooldown. Perks like Dissolution and Hex: Blood Favor return to their basic-attack trigger conditions. Reworked perks like Undone let Killers spend accumulated tokens when damaging generators to remove progress and block them.
Survivor Perk Reworks
Survivor perks receive widespread adjustments to increase utility. Calm Spirit removes crowd penalties, allowing players to bless, cleanse, and unlock chests silently and 8 to 10% faster. Premonition and Spine Chill are reworked to notify players and grant aura-reading or vault speed buffs when the Killer looks in their direction. Road Life lets injured players heal themselves after accumulating tokens from great skill checks while repairing.
Why this patch matters
Update 10.2.0 shifts Dead by Daylight's meta by modernizing legacy perks and introducing direct team communication, giving both sides new tools to manage difficult matches.
