Dead by Daylight Patch 8.4.2 Adjusts Houndmaster and Fixes Maps
Dead by Daylight update 8.4.2 tweaks The Houndmaster basekit chase command, adjusts perk values, and resolves numerous collision and interaction bugs across multiple maps.
Behaviour Interactive released update 8.4.2 for Dead by Daylight, focusing on balance adjustments for the Killer side and addressing persistent map geometry issues.
The Houndmaster Tweaks
The Houndmaster receives multiple basekit adjustments. Chase Command cooldown drops to 3 seconds. The dog hitbox increases to 0.65 meters, and window and pallet vault times during Chase Command drop to 0.45 seconds. The Hindered status effect applied to survivors caught in a grab increases to 10 percent.
Perk and Survivor Changes
Hex Thrill of the Hunt reduces survivor cleansing and blessing speed by 8, 10, or 12 percent per token depending on the tier. Survivor bots are trained to use the perk Invocation Treacherous Crows. The update lays the groundwork for the return of the Chaos Shuffle event on January 16, 2025.
Bug Fixes and Map Collisions
The patch resolves character and environment issues, including a bug where Save the Best for Last and Play With Your Food failed to lose tokens when damaging survivors with the dog. Map geometry fixes address out-of-bounds exploits for The Nurse on The Underground Complex and Haddonfield, plus an invisible collision issue on Gideon Meat Plant.
Why this patch matters
Patch 8.4.2 makes adjustments to The Houndmaster responsiveness in chase while cleaning up map clipping and perk interaction errors.
