Dead by Daylight Patch 8.4.1 Adjusts Killer Powers and Perks

Dead by Daylight update 8.4.1 alters base stats and add-ons for multiple Killers, including The Houndmaster, The Good Guy, and The Shape. The patch also tackles perk adjustments for Human Greed and Weave Attunement alongside dozens of bug fixes.

Behaviour Interactive has released patch 8.4.1 for Dead by Daylight, rolling out balance tweaks across several Killers, perk changes, and a long list of technical bug fixes for audio, UI, and gameplay interactions.

Killer Power and Add-on Adjustments

The Houndmaster receives several basekit and add-on updates. Chase Command cooldown drops to 4 seconds from 5 seconds. Completed generators now appear light orange to The Houndmaster only after charging Search Command, and Houndsense radius visibility for survivors is restricted to a 20-meter range. The Houndmaster's Training Bell add-on increases survivor aura reveals to 8 seconds, while Spiked Collar extends Mangled and Haemorrhage status effects to 60 seconds. Gunpowder Tin lowers its action speed bonus to 30%, and Marlinspike now excludes grabbed survivors from receiving Houndsense. The Dark Lord's Medusa's Hair add-on decreases the Hindered penalty to 8% and lowers its duration to 3 seconds. The Demogorgon's Upside Down velocity increases to 32 meters per second. The Good Guy sees Hidey-Ho Mode's cooldown increased to 14 seconds, Slice & Dice duration increased to 1.8 seconds, and Slice & Dice movement speed decreased to 8 meters per second. Finally, The Shape gains an increased Evil Within gain multiplier of 0.6 when stalking from up close.

Perk Updates

Two perks receive direct modifications in this update. Human Greed now reveals unopened chests and survivor auras for up to 5 seconds when survivors enter an 8-meter range. It also reduces the cooldown for kicking and closing chests to 10 seconds. Weave Attunement now triggers when any item becomes depleted for the first time, revealing dropped item auras and survivor auras within 12 meters. Survivors who pick up an affected item suffer the Oblivious status effect for up to 30 seconds.

Gameplay and Character Bug Fixes

The patch resolves numerous issues tied to specific characters and interactions. The Doctor's Madness removal action no longer fails randomly. The Lich's Fly spell now correctly clears vaults when survivors are on the opposite side. The Plague now correctly enters a cooldown when cancelling Vile Purge. The Houndmaster's dog no longer grabs survivors during Entity kills in the End Game Collapse, and various pathfinding errors on specific maps are addressed. The Corrective Action perk no longer gains tokens on successful Snap Out of It skill checks.

Why this patch matters

Patch 8.4.1 fine-tunes specific Killer capabilities and perks to address community pain points while clearing out a massive backlog of character, map, and UI bugs.
