Wild Life Development Update Preps Terrain and Ranged Combat

The latest Wild Life development report details progress on world terrain cleanup, gravity-affected projectiles for the new combat system, and UI overhauls. Developers also shared updates on upcoming character outfits, enemy animation polish, and new minigame scenes.

The development team behind Wild Life shared a progress report detailing ongoing updates to world environments, combat mechanics, and character assets. The latest work focuses on laying the groundwork for upcoming terrain detail passes and implementing functional ranged combat.

Environment and Code Progress

Developers cleaned up the landscape surrounding Pearl Village, Alpha Camp, and Pillar Region while refining collision meshes for Alpha Camp models. On the coding side, work on the new ranged combat system introduced projectiles affected by gravity that fly through the world. Specific projectiles, such as arrows, can now stick into objects and be retrieved. The item enhancement screen also received improvements based on game design feedback.

Character Assets and Animations

The retopology phase for the Wildfire suit is complete, leaving a low-poly version ready for texturing. Additional outfits are in development, including fantasy armor and a dress. Animation work continued with polishing the Blackwing enemy, refining the Gobbler attacks, and planning a minigame scene involving Maya and Inola.

Design and Sandbox Updates

Item data setup is complete for treasures, crafting materials, alchemy ingredients, meals, potions, and recipes. The trade UI and inventory screen were redesigned following demo release feedback, alongside backend adjustments for character positioning in play mode. The in-game animation editor tutorial is now complete, covering UI, shortcuts, keyframes, curves, and interpolation types.

Why this patch matters

This progress report outlines steady backend and asset development without introducing playable features just yet.
