Wild Life Development Update Details World Building, Combat System Overhaul, and Animations

The Wild Life team has outlined its latest progress across level design, code refactoring, character art, and combat animations. Recent efforts center on blockouts for Adûn and the Warrior Village, weapon moveset updates, and finishing core cinematic mocaps.

The development team behind Wild Life has released its progress report for January 31, 2025, detailing ongoing production milestones across world building, system refactoring, animations, and combat design.

Level Design and World Building

Level production continues with A-Quality blockouts for Adûn and its surrounding architecture, alongside preliminary work on the Warrior Village. Full production is underway for Alpha Camp props, with tech art supporting level artists to streamline the world-building pipeline.

Code and Sandbox Features

Coding workflows have been updated to share combat moves more effectively between characters while old, unused animation and combat systems are being phased out. On the sandbox front, custom decal material creation is complete, and post-processing effects for global and custom cameras now feature independent customization options.

Animations and Character Art

Character artists have completed the casual modern outfit and are sculpting statues for the Warrior Village. Animation work has wrapped up on the dagger moveset and is nearing completion on the wrist claw moveset for Kerpal's cannibals, which players can loot. Additionally, the bulk of the animations for the Max x Riv minigame are finished, and four main story cutscenes remain before teams transition to face and hand motion capture.

Combat and UI Design

Design teams are working on finisher moves for critical attacks and backstabs, finalizing the Gobbler moveset with new ram and area attacks, and initiating design for the Feral Boar and Feral Bull movesets. UI development has also completed the inventory screen and item description layouts.

Why this patch matters

The latest Wild Life update highlights steady foundational progress, cleaning up legacy systems while advancing new movesets and world assets.
