Wild Life Development Update Details Hover AI and Camp Blockouts
The Wild Life team shared a weekly progress report detailing enemy hover movement modes, Alpha Camp blockouts, and new sandbox tutorial systems.
The Wild Life development team outlined its recent progress across level design, combat code, character modeling, and sandbox tools in a weekly update.
Combat AI and Movement
Code updates introduce a hover movement mode for Hopper and Blackwing enemies, letting them fly just above the ground for varied combat encounters. A jump attack AI behavior has also been implemented, designed for the Gobbler enemy to use as an area-of-effect attack. Combat move lists were finished for the Blackwing and additional weapon types including fists, claws, and knives.
World and Level Design
Development on the outdoor area of Alpha Camp Blockout A is nearing completion, with color blockouts and material preparations underway. Designers replaced old routine destination meshes, added functional doors to all buildings, and mapped out boss intro cutscenes for Gorgh and Lazra. Item distribution work in the open world and item handling design also progressed.
Sandbox and Tutorials
New in-game tutorials cover poses, characters, the event system introduction, and a practical light switch event example. A preview icon menu now lets creators select or capture custom scene icons, which carry over when sharing sandbox saves and prop collections.
Characters and Animation
Character work finished the high-poly sculpt and detail pass for the new feral lion model, alongside high-poly Wildfire male outfits across light, medium, and heavy variations. Animation work integrated missing transitions and weapon-specific movement sets into the revised character animation blueprint.
