Wild Life Development Update Details Combat and Animation Progress

The latest Wild Life progress report outlines ongoing work on hair physics, combat finisher moves, and level design assets. Developers also introduced sandbox quality-of-life additions and upgraded the media player audio system.

The development team behind Wild Life has shared its weekly progress report, detailing new technical implementations, sandbox improvements, and asset creation across art and design departments.

Environment and Level Design

The environment team added wear and tear texture details to Alpha Camp assets and prepared production for Warrior Village meshes. Artists received new tools, while early work began on spaceships, shuttles, and statues for Lizard Settlements.

Code and Sandbox Upgrades

Coding efforts finished implementing finisher move mechanics for combat and optimized character performance to improve frame rates around moving NPCs. Sandbox tools now allow users to increase prop picker window heights, undock the prop window and inspector panel, and apply random rotations and scales. Additionally, a new media player plugin improves audio reliability and adds support for OGG, FLAC, and MP3 files.

Characters, Animation, and Design

Character development focused on a two-tier hair physics system combining bone-based movement with mesh-deformer strands. Animations for the Sandshark centipede wrapped up, and work started on heavy weapon movesets and dagger special attacks. Design updates include a new romance plotline for Max and Maya, new Feral Bull attacks, and foundational work on claw combat movesets.

Why this patch matters

This update demonstrates steady cross-departmental progress, laying down functional systems for combat variety, audio playback, and character fidelity.
