Valheim Public Test Patch 0.219.16 Fixes Gamepads and Exploits

Valheim patch 0.219.16 arrives on the Public Test branch with major fixes for controller navigation, item duplication exploits, and equipment adjustments. Players can test out reworked Asksvin Cape stats and targeted performance stutters before the update hits the main servers.

The latest Public Test update for Valheim targets persistent controller bugs, inventory exploits, and quality-of-life snags. Iron Gate has pushed version 0.219.16 to the test branch to iron out mechanical issues before the patch goes live for everyone.

Controller and Navigation Fixes

Menu navigation using gamepads is no longer jittery or overly sensitive. The patch fixes broken renaming for signs and portals when using a controller, resolves input movement stutter, and cleans up dead zones. Additionally, the virtual keyboard no longer pops up multiple times during text input.

Economy and Exploits

Several item and world modifier exploits are closed in this update. Multiple players can no longer consume the exact same piece of served food at the same time. The Crafting skill no longer grants bonus yield on weapons and armor, and trying to use a full cooking station no longer awards cooking skill progress. Furthermore, the No Build Cost world modifier no longer lets players place food freely, moving that function to the No Craft Cost modifier instead.

Environment and Equipment Tweaks

Proximity stutters near the bog witch hut are removed. Resin candles that are blown out will no longer reignite automatically upon server login, and they stop sinking into surfaces when placed. On the gear side, the Asksvin Cape receives a rework featuring increased run speed and reduced stamina consumption for running.

Why this patch matters

Patch 0.219.16 targets specific annoyance points in Valheim, cleaning up messy controller inputs and closing unintended progression loops with food and crafting skills.
