Valheim Patch 1.0.20 Fixes Trophy Drops and Server CPU Usage

Valheim patch 1.0.20 raises trophy drop rates based on monster star levels and fixes a severe CPU usage bug on dedicated servers. It also clears out false cheated item flags stemming from the initial release.

Iron Gate has released patch 1.0.20 for Valheim, targeting loot consistency, server performance bugs, and faulty item flags. Players hunting rare materials will find immediate relief in updated drop logic.

Loot and Drop Adjustments

Trophy drop rates now scale directly with the star level of defeated monsters. In addition, the game no longer resets pseudo-random drop logic between player sessions, which creates a more reliable distribution for rare items.

Server and Performance Fixes

Dedicated servers no longer run at uncapped frame rates when v-sync is enabled on a client running on the same computer, resolving an issue that drained massive amounts of CPU power. On Xbox One and Xbox Series S and X, a bug causing settings to fail to save between sessions is now fixed.

Items and Exploits

The patch clears the cheated flag across all items and build pieces from previous versions to repair damage caused by an initial 1.0 release bug that incorrectly labeled legitimate gear. A Forge of Potential exploit is closed, and specific loopholes involving Cheat Sword and Cheat Sledge classifications are resolved.

Platform Status

A brief deployment delay affects the Mac App Store version of this patch. Crossplay between Mac App Store players and those on other platforms remains temporarily disabled until the Mac update goes live.

Why this patch matters

Patch 1.0.20 directly fixes core frustrations surrounding monster loot and server resource management, making survival progression much more reliable.
