THE FINALS Update v4.4.0 Patch Notes

THE FINALS Update v4.4.0 introduces an environmental kill system, Sledgehammer nerfs, platform stability fixes, and Halloween map updates.

Embark Studios launched Update v4.4.0 for THE FINALS, adding Halloween map decorations alongside a new system that tracks and rewards environmental kills. The patch also modifies Sledgehammer hitboxes, removes the goo plane exploit, and fixes crashes on PC and consoles.

Environmental Kill System

A detection system now rewards players when their actions cause opponents to fall out of bounds. The system detects floor destructions via the Dematerializer or explosives, blocked paths using Goo or carriables, destroyed ziplines, and launches from Jump Pads, Anti-Gravity Cubes, Winch Claws, Charge 'n Slam, and Gateways.

Weapon and Gadget Changes

The Sledgehammer secondary attack sweep duration drops by 25 percent. Secondary sweep width narrows from 30cm to 25cm, while primary sweep width expands from 12cm to 15cm to match animations. Anti-Gravity Cube fixes remove the goo plane locomotion method. Glitch Trap gains squad colors, and the RPG-7 fixes an early ammo restocking bug during reloads. Goo Gun projectiles now stick to the base of turrets.

Maps and Modes

Monaco adds an exit point at the top of the alley zipline to let players jump straight to the opposite roof. Kyoto removes snag points around the Pavilion near bamboo and lanterns. The Practice Range stops dummies from blocking explosive damage.

Settings and Graphics

A Resolution Scale Mode setting arrives for TAAU users, defaulting to an Auto option alongside a Manual slider. Lower-end GPUs now default to TAAU instead of FSR2 or XeSS.

Bugs and Audio

The patch resolves a DX11 hang, looping vault audio, and a potential permanent invisibility bug. CL-40 grenade sounds are replaced to reduce ear fatigue. UI updates fix World Tour rank progress bar displays and duplicate scoring event HUD text.

Why this patch matters

Update v4.4.0 tackles community pain points by tracking environmental falls, patching physics exploits like the goo plane, and cleaning up weapon hitboxes.
