THE FINALS Update 4.2.0 Brings Primetime Buff and Weapon Rebalance
THE FINALS update 4.2.0 introduces the Primetime Buff world tour event, lowers Mesh Shield cooldowns, and rebalances the CL-40, Pike-556, and V9S weapons.
Update 4.2.0 is live for THE FINALS, adding a new World Tour modifier, weapon adjustments, tournament spawn logic changes, and the first community event of Season 4.
World Tour Primetime Buff Event
The final stop of the World Tour features 'Primetime Buff' across Fortune Stadium, Monaco, Kyoto, and SYS$HORIZON. When a team member deposits a cash box into a cashout station, the entire team receives a +100 health boost above normal maximums. This extra health does not regenerate from damage, ends when the cashout finishes, and does not apply to teammates who are dead during the deposit. Depositing another cash box replenishes the bonus if active.
Weapon and Gadget Balance
The CL-40 grenade launcher damage decreases from 117 to 100, ammo capacity increases from 4 to 5, and the self-damage multiplier rises from 0.75 to 1.6. The Pike-556 rifle damage drops from 59 to 52. The V9S pistol fire rate drops from 430 RPM to 360 RPM, and damage increases from 37 to 40. Mesh Shield cooldowns decrease from 12s to 8s if damaged when closed, and from 8s to 4s if undamaged. Data Reshapers can now turn items into Glitch Barrels, and Smoke Grenade duration increases to 17.5 seconds.
Game Modes and Match Flow
Ranked Tournaments and World Tour modes feature updated spawn point selection logic for wiped teams in final rounds to reduce long-distance spawns and increase Cashout location variety. Team colors now stay consistent across tournament rounds. Private matches gain a second spectator slot, and liftables should no longer drop immediately upon pickup.
Community Event and Rewards
Season 4's first community event challenges players to score 10 million eliminations using new Season 4 weapons before the timer runs out to unlock the .50 Akimbo's. Post-Season 3 ranked rewards undergo final testing and are scheduled for distribution during this update.
Why this patch matters
Update 4.2.0 shifts the weapon meta while introducing a World Tour event mechanic that encourages aggressive cashout deposits.
