Team Fortress 2 Update Fixes Client Prediction and Map Exploits

Team Fortress 2 receives a new update featuring client-side prediction fixes, video settings additions, and numerous bug fixes for maps and taunts. Players can now use a borderless window option, bicubic lightmaps, and radial fog.

Valve has released an update for Team Fortress 2. The patch introduces new video settings, Half-Life 2 graphical features, and a wide array of client-side prediction fixes alongside map optimizations.

Engine and Video Settings Additions

The update adds a borderless window option to video settings, bicubic lightmaps and radial fog ported from the Half-Life 2 20th Anniversary Update, and VScript support for the HIDEHUD_MATCH_STATUS flag. The game now launches in native resolution by default instead of 640x480. Listen servers now include the player name in the default server name, and Steam Networking support has been integrated.

Client-Side Prediction Improvements

Multiple fixes resolve client-side jank and rollback scenarios. Changes address input-based movement during client-side position shifts, improve prediction when walking on props and entities, limit specific viewmodel prediction errors so they do not affect player movement, fix viewmodel sway prediction, and correct weapon idle animation prediction. Base velocity synchronization issues on conveyors and moving items have also been resolved.

General Bug Fixes and Taunts

Missing files have been added for Taunt: The Travel Agent, alongside No Hat styles for the Cozy Cover-Up. Fixes address duel cancellation spam, community server joins via Steam invites, lighting discrepancies for cosmetics and weapons, overlapping Equipped labels in the loadout menu, and the Voices from Below effect during Highland Hound taunts. Player voice commands no longer cut off when entering shallow water, and localization issues for Spanish-Latin America settings have been corrected.

Map Adjustments and Optimizations

Updates to koth_overcast_final and ctf_applejack include unblocking a sniper window at mid, swapping the sentry shack ammo pack on last to medium, adjusting health pickups, and updating bot support. pl_patagonia receives optimization passes, fixes for stuck RED bots on spawn stairs, cart capping fixes for the first point, and adjustments to wrap assassin bauble collisions.

Why this patch matters

This update delivers essential quality-of-life fixes for prediction errors and map geometry, improving overall stability and netcode consistency for community and casual servers alike.
