Team Fortress 2 Update Expands Backpack Space and Patches Exploits

Team Fortress 2 receives an update that expands backpack capacity to 4,000 slots and addresses several long-standing exploits, including a .dem file bug that revealed cloaked Spies.

Valve has released a new update for Team Fortress 2, focusing on quality-of-life adjustments, community-contributed bug fixes, and map refinements. Players will find expanded storage alongside technical fixes that target gameplay exploits and visual errors.

Storage and Security Fixes

The maximum number of backpack slots has increased from 3,000 to 4,000. Additionally, an exploit using record and stop .dem files that revealed cloaked Spies has been fixed.

Gameplay and Combat Adjustments

Several combat and interaction bugs are resolved in this patch. Robot Destruction death notice events now properly highlight when local players eliminate a robot. In Mann vs. Machine, arrows fired by invulnerable players with the projectile penetration upgrade no longer break instantly, incorporating a fix from community member Marxvee. Marxvee also contributed a fix to prevent hearing the deflection sound when redirecting arrows that are already stuck in objects. Furthermore, a rocket crash exploit on the beach party map has been removed with help from ficool2, and short .mp3 sound files now play correctly.

Map and Asset Updates

Multiple community and official maps receive updates. Koth_sawmill_event has a stray spell removed, and koth_megaton is removed. Pl_cashworks updates its menu photo to match map changes, removes a texture glitch at RED spawn 1, adds a shutter for the drop exit at RED spawn 1, prevents sticky bombs on the RED spawn 2 big door, removes collision on lamps, adjusts visuals in BLU spawn and the final cap side route, and fixes clipping issues. Koth_cachoeira blocks off the sightline from the helicopter and fixes a missing door texture credited to Hoppkins. The tf_zombie_spawner entity now supports setting team numbers for zombies, defaulting to original behavior if left unassigned. Taunt: Unleashed Rage fixes an incorrect outro timing, and Taunt: Can It! updates its MvM bone. Miscellaneous fixes are also credited to Midnite.

Visual and Audio Corrections

The self-illum setting for the Earbuds item has been restored. Audio cues for short .mp3 files and arrow deflections operate as intended following these fixes.

Why this patch matters

This update delivers practical inventory relief and necessary exploit patches, keeping Team Fortress 2 stable without altering core mechanics.
