Team Fortress 2 Update December 17 Patch Notes

A Team Fortress 2 update fixes cosmetic clipping issues, addresses map exploits on cp_fortezza and Versus Saxton Hale arenas, and updates unusual effect timings. The patch applies automatically upon restarting the game.

Valve has released a maintenance update for Team Fortress 2, focusing on cosmetic rigs, unusual effect adjustments, and layout fixes across community and official maps.

Cosmetic and Unusual Effect Fixes

Several cosmetic items receive rigging and material updates. The Consigliere's Coverup gains its missing No Gloves style, and Scrooge McDoc transparent lenses now rig to the correct bone for proper taunt compatibility. The Dusk Duster, Necroprancer, and Dapper Noel receive material fixes, while sniper hat and scarf rigging improvements reduce clipping with shirts. Unusual effects Playful Aurora and Frisky Morning now move correctly, and Aurora Skies receives a timing fix.

Map Adjustments and Exploit Fixes

On cp_fortezza, a sniper window leading into the final point is removed, and Engineer building placements inside doors are restricted. Versus Saxton Hale mode updates vsh_maul and other arenas by fixing dark hiding spots, grounding levitating props, and adjusting lighting and collision brushes. Additional fixes address overlapping Spy voice lines for Curtain Call and add missing kill icons and snow coverings.

Why this patch matters

This update cleans up minor visual bugs, corrects cosmetic clipping interactions, and closes troublesome map exploits in competitive rotation.
