Tale of Specters: Joseon 1592 Update Adds Burning Village Prologue and Rout Rule
The October 2 update for Tale of Specters: Joseon 1592 introduces a new opening scenario, a rout mechanic to end low-enemy battles quickly, and speed controls for enemy turns. It also adjusts character progression and fixes several combat bugs.
Developer Leon released an update for Tale of Specters: Joseon 1592 on October 2, adding a new prologue and a series of quality-of-life adjustments to tactical combat. Players must start a new game to experience the opening sequence.
New Prologue and Flow
The update replaces the previous opening with The Burning Village. Players fight alongside Hong Sa-heon, Lee Dong-gil, and Maechang while learning combat basics. Difficulty selection now appears immediately after completing the prologue rather than before it.
Tactical Rules and Speed Controls
Battles include a new rout rule that triggers when remaining enemies drop to half or fewer of your surviving units, offering a choice to pursue them for an instant victory. Enemy turns can now be sped up to 2x or 4x on any stage, including uncleared ones. Chapter 1 maps feature more high ground, and Geumsan Field now provides step-by-step element affinity tutorials.
Progression and Bug Fixes
Level-ups now grant a flat +1 speed bonus. Archer movement and jump parameters have changed, along with specific skill power and mana costs. Damage forecasts now account for active buffs and debuffs. The patch also resolves bugs where area attacks hit the caster and buff values were calculated incorrectly.
Why this patch matters
The update smooths out early-game pacing with speed toggles and an explicit tutorial prologue, while addressing foundational stat and skill math.
