SWAPMEAT Meat Lab 2 Patch Overhauls Combat and AI
The Meat Lab 2 update for SWAPMEAT sharpens enemy aggression, overhauls the elemental system, and reworks mutation passive trees.
Game Director Reset and the development team deployed Meat Lab 2 for SWAPMEAT, bringing extensive changes gathered from recent convention feedback. The update ramps up combat difficulty, restructures elemental reactions, and alters enemy spawn behaviors.
Combat Difficulty and Enemy AI
Enemies are now more aggressive and deal increased damage across all planets. Permanent movement speed improvements have been removed, forcing players to rely more heavily on Meat abilities. Spiders are smaller, faster, and more numerous with updated animations, while Wasps now fire Slime projectiles as their primary attack instead of using short-ranged melee. Harvester health pools and node health have been reduced, and drop ships now utilize primary and secondary enemy faction indicators on the planet selection screen.
Elemental System Overhaul
Elemental interactions now feature clearer visual and audio indicators. Fire applies burning damage stacks that can be consumed with Combust for burst damage. Ice slowing effects now require three stacks instead of five to completely immobilize targets. Slime removes all armor with a single stack, while Electric increases incoming damage by 25 percent and can be consumed to trigger a long stagger.
Mutation Reworks
Multiple passive mutations have been redesigned to trigger from specific combat events rather than passive scaling. A Pirate's Life for Me now grants ability recharge rate boosts on successful active reload. Blood Sucking scales off precision damage to heal the player, and Bugging Out grants armor on kills. Ninja Gaiden and Meat Lovers have both been adjusted to tie bonuses directly to precision hits and reload mechanics.
Exploration and Quality of Life
Planetary compasses now direct players to four randomly rolled event locations. Infestations are marked by white ground circles containing themed props and reward Super Samples. Networking improvements allow hosts to kick disconnected players from the main menu, and controller UI navigation now features consistent color states.
Why this patch matters
Meat Lab 2 makes SWAPMEAT harder while rewarding precise tactical play, element combining, and active management of reworked mutation trees.
