Stellaris Update 4.5.2 Refines Nomadic Empires and Balances Covenants
Stellaris update 4.5.2 Cygnus brings balance adjustments to civics, fixes numerous progression bugs, and expands terraforming options for nomadic knights. The patch also improves policy management and addresses late-game stability.
Paradox Interactive released update 4.5.2 Cygnus for Stellaris on Steam, GOG, and the Microsoft Store. The patch tackles a wide range of issues, adjusting economy balance, fixing broken events, and introducing new policy options for nomadic empires.
Nomadic Empires and Origin Adjustments
Nomadic Knights of the Toxic God who tame or slay the Toxic God can use their Arkships to detoxify toxic terraforming candidates into habitable worlds. These empires also gain new weapon and defense preference policies for Arkships and Waystations. Nomadic Synthetic Fertility no longer starts with a size 20 Arkship, and Prosperous Unification grants the correct additional districts for nomadic empires.
Economy and Covenant Rebalancing
The Conserve approach for Operational Reserves applies a negative 50 percent specialist job efficiency modifier instead of cutting bureaucrat and researcher output directly. Armor costs match shields of the same tier, dropping down from double the price. Experiment Engineers produce one of each research type instead of two, with their upkeep halved to match. Covenant telepath bonuses apply immediately when the Covenant is formed rather than waiting a year.
Policy and UI Overhauls
Weapon and defense preference policies are renamed to indicate their specific targets clearly, such as fleets, starbases, or waystations. These military and research policies sort alphabetically in their respective windows. The military policies window opened from the fleet manager is taller and wider to fit full policy names.
Bug Fixes and Stability
Fallen empires no longer repeatedly declare the same war on the Synth Queen. Choosing an ethic for uplifted species correctly applies that ethic to their pops. The patch resolves an issue where a subject stays in a war it should have left when declaring independence while fighting multiple wars, and reduces late-game micro freezes caused by nomad AI routines.
Why this patch matters
Update 4.5.2 delivers stability fixes and balance passes to nomadic playthroughs, making empire management consistent.
