Stellaris Update 3.14.1 Circinus Preliminary Patch Notes
Stellaris version 3.14.1 arrives alongside the Grand Archive Story Pack, bringing space fauna breeding systems, new origins, and extensive balance changes. The update also introduces strict habitat limits for AI empires and fixes numerous event and localization bugs.
Paradox Interactive has released preliminary patch notes for Stellaris version 3.14.1 Circinus, which launches alongside the Grand Archive Story Pack. The update introduces major features centered around space fauna capture and breeding, alongside systemic balance passes, performance updates, and interface tweaks.
New Gameplay Systems and Content
The patch lays the groundwork for the Grand Archive Story Pack by adding mechanics for space fauna capture, breeding, and modification. Players can collect and display 151 new specimens through events. The update also introduces 15 new relics, two tradition trees named Archivism and Domestication, two origins called Primal Calling and Treasure Hunters, and two civics titled Beastmasters and Galactic Curators. Additionally, Cutholoids and Voidworms join the game as new spaceborne lifeforms, accompanied by a mid-game crisis involving the Voidworm Plague.
AI Adjustments and Balance Passes
AI empires now operate under a set limit for the maximum number of habitats they can construct, scaled by galaxy size and difficulty. This limit is doubled for empires using the Void Dweller and Void-Forged origins. Combat targeting has been adjusted so ships stay with their primary targets longer instead of constantly shifting focus. Economic balance sees ranger science doubled to 4, while storm effects on fleet pathfinding are significantly reduced and the Nexus storm has been made tougher.
Quality of Life and Bug Fixes
Shattered Ring rings can now be restored via decision after researching Mega Engineering, and the associated project has been renamed to Reparable Damage. Setting AI empires to 1 with randomization enabled now correctly generates between 0 and 1 empires. A bug that caused the Machine Worlds ascension perk to double generator district housing and jobs on Shattered Ringworlds has been resolved. The Government View has been renamed to Empire View to prevent confusion with the Galactic Paragons government UI.
Why this patch matters
Update 3.14.1 acts as a companion patch for the Grand Archive expansion while delivering AI constraints on habitat construction and fixing UI confusions.
