Stellaris Details 3.13.1 Vela Update and Storm Changes
Stellaris has released preliminary patch notes for the 3.13.1 Vela update, launching next Tuesday. The update removes Nexus storms from the early game pool, adjusts storm creation costs, and fixes various crash issues.
Paradox has outlined preliminary release notes for the upcoming 3.13.1 Vela update. Headlining the changes is the removal of Nexus storms from the early game pool, alongside balance adjustments to astrometeorology and crash fixes.
Storm Balance and Early Game Tweaks
Nexus storms are removed from the early game pool, preventing the 2211 storm event from occurring. Storm creation costs are decreased while Astrometeorology jobs receive buffs. Planetscapers now receive a free pop on their first blocker, and scientist governors reduce storm devastation alongside Stormriders and Subterranean empires.
Bug Fixes and Stability
Several crash-to-desktop triggers are resolved, including a scaling issue with cosmic storm spawn cooldowns and an error in the fleet manager when reinforcing fleets with un-sized ships. Fallen Empires can no longer demand scientists who are actively exploring Astral Rifts.
Why this patch matters
The Vela update provides a round of relief for early-game pacing by pulling disruptive storms out of the initial decades while ironing out stability flaws.
