Ship Miner Prepares for Next Fest With Versions 0.8.6.1 to 0.8.6.5

Ship Miner rolls out a string of updates leading into Next Fest, boosting mining speeds, adding language support, and stopping friendly fire damage.

Ship Miner prepares for Steam Next Fest with five consecutive updates spanning versions 0.8.6.1 through 0.8.6.5. These patches introduce new language options, difficulty settings, and wide-ranging balance changes that alter combat and resource gathering.

Combat and Friendly Fire

Friendly fire damage is completely removed for player ships, drones, and buildings, though this may change later. Bombers now experience pushback recoil when firing, and their attacks now strike close-range targets correctly while ignoring friendly collisions. Enemy attack units can now target stations and use corrected projectile offsets for close range. Destroyed ships no longer display lingering autoregen visual effects, and tremble devices halt and deal no damage upon ship destruction until respawn.

Mining and Anomalies

Both player and enemy miners possess increased mining power. Anomalies once again block each other, but now take almost negligible damage from other anomalies. Anomaly HP regeneration is reduced and delayed when taking damage, and attack offsets for close targets are adjusted. Artifacts no longer load instantly with dark matter.

Languages and Settings

The game adds language support for Russian, Portuguese, and Japanese. Gameplay options now include difficulty settings. Instructions feature animated sticks to better communicate two-stick controls, and a bug that muted sound effects after deleting a save file is resolved.

Terrain and Bug Fixes

Terrain generation incorporates small terrain and attachment variants for greater visual diversity. Asteroid generation no longer considers unused internal modifiers, amount texts for mineral density are fixed, and pathfinding calculation edge cases are resolved.

Why this patch matters

These updates smooth out combat edge cases and remove frustration from friendly fire while expanding accessibility options for the demo.
