RimWorld Update v1.6.4528 Fixes Gravships and Performance Issues

Ludeon Studios has released a bug-fixing update for RimWorld following the Odyssey expansion, delivering critical performance fixes and gravship adjustments.

Ludeon Studios has rolled out update v1.6.4528 for RimWorld, targeting technical issues across the base game and expansions like Odyssey. This patch addresses frame rate drops tied to the world map and terrain tab, fixes memory leaks during texture atlas baking, and resolves numerous quest and gravship interaction errors.

Performance and Memory Optimizations

The patch targets heavy performance bottlenecks, resolving significant frame rate drops tied to the world map and terrain tab. Developers optimized the world pawn garbage collection algorithm, removed heavy profiler blocks, improved load times on Mac, and fixed memory usage during texture atlas baking that previously caused crashes on modded setups.

Gravship and World Adjustments

Gravships receive multiple stability fixes. Gravcores lack hit points to prevent accidental destruction, and substructure removal gains a dedicated floor architect category. Players can no longer open the world map or use hotkeys to switch pawns during gravship cutscenes. The patch also prevents landing on worshipful villages and stops gravship shield generators from ignoring mortars.

Gameplay and Balance Tweaks

Psilocaps now carry a small chance to inspire colonists or induce a catatonic state based on their description. Vultures exhibit higher resistance to rot stink and environmental toxins. Animal specialists gain increased fishing speed and yield, and hermit crabs hide in their shells when stationary. The fungus-preferred precept is now compatible with the darkness meme.

Quest and General Bug Fixes

A wide variety of miscellaneous bugs are cleared out. Bluebird eggs no longer hatch into crows, flesh tentacles on statues stop moving, and steam geysers can no longer spawn too close to insect lair entrances. Pawns also retain their allowed areas when left behind with a grav anchor, and broken quest generation related to refugee betrayal offers is resolved.

Why this patch matters

Update v1.6.4528 delivers technical polish to RimWorld, smoothing out memory usage and ironing out rough edges left after the Odyssey expansion launch.
