RimWorld Update 1.6.4850 Tweaks Bridge Explosion Immunity and Fixes Dozens of Bugs

The latest RimWorld update introduces heavy bridge explosion immunity, forbiddable embryos, and a comprehensive list of bug fixes spanning expansions, quests, and low-tick performance issues.

Ludeon Studios released update 1.6.4850 for RimWorld and its expansions. The patch introduces several balance adjustments, adds zero-market-value ancient bridges to prevent early wealth spikes, and resolves a lengthy list of technical issues.

Gameplay and Economy Adjustments

Heavy bridges are now immune to explosion damage, while regular bridges remain destructible by explosions. Embryos can now be marked as forbiddable. New ancient bridges and ancient heavy bridges carry a market value of zero, preventing sudden wealth spikes when colonies land on maps featuring ruins built over water. Additionally, volumetric volcanic debris lava can no longer spread to deep water.

Quest and World Generation Fixes

The patch addresses multiple quest-breaking bugs, including terminals failing to spawn in ancient complexes, distress signal maps generating without shards, and pilgrim quests targeting maps without reliquaries. Shuttles, gravship jumps, and unbuilt blueprints also receive logic fixes to prevent map-transition errors, floating roofs, and incorrect threat radiuses.

Pawn Behavior and Low-Tick Fixes

Pawns ticking at lower rates will now correctly process bloodrage hediffs, cube interactions, and mechanoid repairs. Ghouls can no longer caravan alone and now exit shuttles properly drafted alongside other colonists. Xenotype inheritance issues, infant deletion during shuttle flights, and duplicate book texts have also been resolved.

Why this patch matters

Update 1.6.4850 is a maintenance patch that cleans up edge cases across recent expansions, quests, and pawn logic while adding quality-of-life adjustments for water maps.
