Rainbow Six Siege Y9S4 Addendum Adjusts Shotguns and Blocks Windows

Rainbow Six Siege Y9S4.0 deploys massive download sizes for a texture reforge, modifies shotgun dispersion and recoil, blocks window ledge positioning to curb spawn peeking, and fixes dozens of bugs.

Ubisoft has released the Y9S4 patch notes addendum for Rainbow Six Siege, detailing platform download sizes driven by a complete texture reforge. The update introduces major shotgun ecosystem tweaks, removes player ability to stand on window ledges to reduce toxicity, and fixes a wave of gameplay, operator, level design, and audio bugs.

Shotgun Ecosystem Adjusts Dispersion and Recoil

PC and console shotgun loadouts receive targeted adjustments to ADS and hip-fire dispersion cones. Weapons such as the ITA12L, M590A1, M870, SG-CQB, FO-12, and SASG-12 receive ADS dispersion cone reductions, while hip-fire dispersion drops for the ITA12L, M590A1, M870, SG-CQB, and Supernova. Meanwhile, the M1014, SPAS12, Super 90, and SASG-12 experience reduced first-shot dispersion paired with increased vertical recoil after the initial shot.

Window Exploits and Map Flow

To combat toxicity and spawn peeking, players can no longer navigate onto window ledges. Standard vaulting and hot-breaching actions through windows remain fully operational.

Massive Texture Reforge and Download Sizes

A texture reforge accounts for an unusually large download size across all platforms, ranging from 14.8 GB on Steam up to 73.99 GB on Ubisoft Connect, with console versions falling between 34 GB and 41 GB depending on the hardware generation.

Operator and Gameplay Bug Fixes

Numerous fixes address issues across operators and gadgets. Blackbeard s H.U.L.L. Adaptable Shield now blocks throwable device damage reliably and leans correctly with the operator after breaching. Skopós shell spawning errors, T-pose animation glitches for attackers using smoke grenades, and disappearing match replay assets for deployable devices have all been resolved.

Why this patch matters

Y9S4.0 is a technical update that reorganizes shotgun balance, cleans up lingering map exploits, and requires a heavy download for file optimization.
