Path of Exile Preview Details 3.25.1 Changes to Tier 17 Maps and Recombinators

Path of Exile patch 3.25.1 adjusts Thaumaturgic Dust shipping mechanics, reworks Recombinator odds, and weakens several Tier 17 map modifiers.

Grinding Gear Games outlines upcoming changes for Path of Exile in the 3.25.1 update preview, focusing on Settlers shipping mechanics, Recombinator behavior, and Tier 17 map balance.

Settlers Shipping and Recombinator Adjustments

Shipping Thaumaturgic Dust no longer multiplies shipment value and disproportionately drives up risk. Instead, dust adds directly to shipment value and scales rewards based on other goods included, resulting in a direct buff to reward correlation. Recombinators now feature a much higher chance to select rarer modifiers when creating items. Additionally, players spawn further away from the portal in the Admiral Valerius boss area to prevent accidental exits, and several items like Uber Boss Fragments join the Currency Exchange.

Tier 17 Map Modifier Reworks

Numerous Tier 17 map modifiers receive balance passes. The Sawblades modifier is slower and spawns three blades instead of six. The Marked for Death debuff increases damage taken by 50 percent without blocking life and energy shield recovery. Monsters fire two additional projectiles instead of four, and rare monsters remove 5 percent of life, mana, and energy shield on hit down from 10 percent. Several harsh modifiers, including those disabling auras, charges, and recovery, are removed entirely from the mod pool.

General Tweaks and Bug Fixes

The Divination Scarab of Plenty now limits stacking to five while spawning magic monster packs with increased card drop chances. The Bestiary map craft specifies base quality application, preventing conflicts with Maven Chisels. Bug fixes resolve issues with Johan's town management option, incorrect flask duration scaling, and passive skill interactions involving rage generation from non-enemy hits.

Why this patch matters

Patch 3.25.1 targets major pain points by curbing overly punishing Tier 17 mods and making resource shipping behave more predictably.
