Ostranauts Patch 0.14.2.1 Overhauls HUD and UI

Ostranauts update v0.14.2.1 refines the Across the System HUD and UI rework, introducing multi-crew overview modes, escape menu redesigns, and several gameplay fixes.

Blue Bottle Games released patch v0.14.2.1 for Ostranauts, continuing the interface overhaul introduced in Across the System while fixing persistent bugs involving ship spawns, combat behavior, and exploits.

HUD and UI Improvements

The crew portrait and stat area features a toggle between individual character stats and a scrolling multi-crew overview mode with rank and shift icons. The date and time display moves to the bottom right in a subtle layout, freeing up the bottom center for the message log. The escape menu dims the background, adds quit-to-desktop options, includes a save-on-close toggle, and displays a recent save indicator.

Gameplay and Bug Fixes

Newly purchased ships no longer spawn inside Ganymed 1036 when stations align awkwardly. Pirates are routed to a separate location during regional cleanup, preventing station brawls upon returning to a region. Combat AI reduces an over-reliance on tackle moves, and clicking the player portrait auto-centers the camera.

Exploits and Economy

An exploit allowing vodka bottles and other containers to hold infinite gas is patched. Kiosk and trader restock rates become more predictable, and police ships no longer run out of fuel during docking routines.

Why this patch matters

Version 0.14.2.1 streamlines the user interface based on community feedback while clearing up edge cases with ship positioning and combat logic.
