Ostranauts Hotfix 0.14.0.17 Overhauls Economy and Crew AI

Ostranauts update 0.14.0.17 fixes permanent napping slow penalties, corrects financial ledger errors, improves trading interfaces, and adds new illegal action alerts.

Blue Bottle Games has released hotfix version 0.14.0.17 for Ostranauts. Building on the recent Across the System update, this patch resolves severe character movement penalties, financial ledger inaccuracies, and trade exploits while remaining compatible with older 0.14 save files.

Character and Save Repairs

Characters suffering from permanent movement and work speed penalties caused by napping in version 0.14.0.15 and earlier are now automatically repaired. Napped characters no longer fatigue faster or retain permanent slow debuffs after waking. Additionally, the Blisters condition is now visible on characters, and crew members can now be commanded to stop following without the captain present.

UI, Navigation, and Economy Fixes

The FUNDS UI has received multiple corrections, preventing mortgage ledger items from disappearing to previous pages, stopping unpaid items from applying fees to incorrect dates, and fixing skipped hourly fees during super fast-forward. Gas containers now correctly account for the cost of their internal gas instead of making new purchases cheaper than refills. Autopilot no longer uses dangerously high accelerations on the final leg of a trip, and navigation station auto-zooming cancels properly when manual zooming begins.

Trading and Crime Alerts

Data file trading is now restricted to direct sales with the player rather than barter zones, preventing ghost files and container oversights. A new objective alert triggers immediately when a player performs a potentially illegal action, and human tooltips now display current thoughts and activities to help manage crew behavior. The Play Game and Study Book actions have also been made slightly less attractive to AI.

Why this patch matters

Hotfix 0.14.0.17 addresses critical quality-of-life pain points, rescuing broken characters from old saves and stabilizing the game's economy and navigation systems.
