Ostranauts Hotfix 0.14.0.13 Fixes Save Bloat and Crew Management
Ostranauts hotfix 0.14.0.13 addresses massive save file sizes caused by Venus stations, reworks cargo market data saving, and resolves multiple issues regarding crew death and AI pathing. The update also introduces new audio cues for crew events and station docking.
Blue Bottle Games has released hotfix v0.14.0.13 for Ostranauts, targeting critical save file corruption, NPC behavior loops, and crew management bugs following the Across the System update.
Save File Bloat and Cargo Optimization
A bug caused visits to certain Venus stations to register every individual station object as a police force member, generating company rosters too large for the game to read. The hotfix prevents this issue for future visits. Additionally, cargo market data is now saved compactly to reduce overall file sizes.
Crew Death and Company Roster Fixes
Dead crew members are now properly cleaned up from company rosters and ledgers, preventing players from firing dead bodies to exploit death pay. New logic triggers sad music and message logs when crew members die on the current map or quit unhappily, while docking music now plays upon receiving clearance from a station.
AI and Task Performance
A special case where installation tasks taking exactly one cycle left AI units idling for over 30 seconds has been resolved, allowing workers to rapidly complete short-duration tasks. NPC ship refueling exchanges, Super Fast-Forward path obstructions, and whodunnit murder plot clues have also been fixed.
User Interface and Minor Fixes
Helmet audio now respects volume sliders, ledger displays correctly separate debts from credits, and refreshed or napped conditions properly remove work speed penalties instead of adding them. Various UI misalignments, missing portraits, and typos in fuel regulator descriptions and actions are also corrected.
Why this patch matters
Hotfix 0.14.0.13 resolves severe technical bottlenecks and logical errors, making long-term campaigns much more stable.
