Never Sort By Color October 10 Update Revamps Controls and Vehicles

Bryan has released a quick follow-up update for Never Sort By Color, bringing a rebuilt controls menu, double the speed for the Small Shuttle, and several collision and inventory fixes.

A fresh update for Never Sort By Color is live, addressing control readability, vehicle physics, and inventory management based on player feedback.

Controls and Key Rebinding

The controls menu is a table featuring one row per action, combining keyboard and mouse in one column and gamepad inputs in the other. Key names appear as written words instead of small glyphs. Rebinding a key that another action already uses automatically swaps the two bindings. Pressing Escape cancels an active rebind, and a progress bar highlights any keys changed from default settings.

Inventory and Hand Mechanics

Pieces held in the hand are spaced by physical size to prevent baseplates from clipping into neighbors. Picking up items automatically sorts the hand by part size with duplicates placed side by side rather than by color. The selected piece sits visibly in front of other carried items and displays a white outline. Furthermore, the bottom-right readout changes color during naming and displays the exact count of held items.

Vehicle Adjustments

The Small Shuttle moves twice as fast as before. Colliding with a wall at an angle no longer wrecks the craft, as only direct speed straight into a surface counts toward impact damage. Flying vehicles slide along walls instead of coming to an immediate stop.

Bug Fixes and Saves

Bricks freed from hand-built wrecked models register properly for Sorter's Eye, the Locator, and the Magnet Glove, while also counting toward bin stock. Selection outlines no longer interfere with brick flight trails, and tree and wall colliders have been reworked to stop bricks from sliding underneath. Cloud sync write restrictions in folders like OneDrive trigger an automatic fallback to a local saves folder, allowing the load menu to read from both locations.

Why this patch matters

This update directly addresses quality-of-life complaints regarding menu readability and vehicle navigation, smoothing out inventory management and minor collision bugs.
