Necesse Update v0.28.0 Overhauls Workstations, Quests, and UI

Necesse version 0.28.0 introduces upgradeable workstations, an adventure journal challenge system, and categorized crafting menus. Players can also place carpets under objects and tackle new map objectives.

Necesse version 0.28.0 arrives with an overhaul aimed at improving onboarding and user interface navigation. The update replaces old repetitive quests with an adventure journal system, introduces upgradeable crafting stations, and refines placement rules for furniture and lights.

Upgradeable Workstations and Crafting

Crafting stations are streamlined. Anvils and alchemy tables can now be upgraded directly rather than forcing players to build entirely new structures, maintaining access to prior recipes. The standard workstation and demonic workstation take up a 2x1 space, and the Advanced Workstation is renamed to the Tungsten Workstation. New workstation tiers include demonic, tungsten, and fallen anvils, alongside void and caveglow alchemy tables. Crafting menus feature a categorized layout with improved search functionality, item highlighting for fresh inventory pickups, and a new craft 10 key modifier that overrides craft all by default.

Quests and Adventure Journal

The quest system is restructured to reduce clutter. The Elder exclusively offers boss quests, while old repeatable quest rewards move to the adventure journal challenge system. Completing these challenges unlocks rewards like the Banner of Peace, Banner of War, Travelstone, Miners Prosthetic trinket, Seed Gun, Seed Pouch, and the Seahorse mount. Raspberry bush saplings are added to the Pirate Captain's shop, and the tutorial is updated to cover journal challenges.

Building, Carpets, and Lighting

Interior decoration rules are flexible. Carpets can now be placed underneath objects like beds and tables. Paintings and wall lights fit onto any wall regardless of nearby objects, and wall-mounted recipe variations are removed in favor of torches and candles that attach directly to fences, tables, and walls. Ground-placeable candles are also added, and objects can sit on paths right next to water.

World Generation and Quality of Life

Exploration brings new biome details, including flower patches across forest, plains, snow, and swamp biomes, tree stumps and logs in forests and swamps, root clutter in swamps, and cow skeletons in deserts. The map interface displays homestone, waystone, and settlement flag icons, alongside a work range overlay when hovering over priorities on the minimap and game scene. Waystone durability before breaking is increased.

Why this patch matters

Version 0.28.0 is a quality-of-life update that modernizes Necesse's onboarding, UI organization, and base-building flexibility.
