Monsters Are Coming! Pumpkin Panic Update Adds New Townhall and Hero
Monsters Are Coming! receives a Halloween-themed update featuring the Devourer Townhall, the undying Jack'o hero, and a spooky new road biome. The patch also introduces three relics and adjusts Boomerang targeting.
The Pumpkin Panic update brings a darker seasonal tone to Monsters Are Coming! along with mechanical changes. Players can now experiment with a consumption-based Townhall, a melee hero who defies death, a dedicated Halloween road, and new relics.
The Devourer Townhall and Building Chains
The new Devourer Townhall forces a shift in city planning. It consumes its own buildings when players place matching families in chains of four, absorbing their abilities and upgrading tower attacks. Eating resource structures triggers triple production at the moment of consumption and generates stone, with yields scaling based on the number of structures eaten simultaneously.
Jack'o and Relics
Jack'o introduces a close-quarters playstyle that rewards taking damage. When his health drops to zero, he leaves his pumpkin head on his trail for a damage buff and a speed penalty. Three new relics join the pool: the Pot Lid increases maximum health, the Wreath of Roses doubles damage dealt to enemies within two units of the hero, and the Vault key adds luck to weapon chests and guarantees chest access across the next five hero deaths.
Boomerang Balancing and Bug Fixes
The Boomerang targeting behavior is updated to prioritize enemies directly in front of the hero, reducing the targeting angle from 200 degrees to 120 degrees and factoring in both angle and distance. A bug that caused the Neighborhood effect from resource-generating buildings to apply to all structures has also been fixed.
Why this patch matters
The Pumpkin Panic update shakes up standard layouts with the Devourer's consumption mechanics and offers a high-risk approach through Jack'o's unkillable kit.
