Metro Redux Next-Gen Update Arrives in October With Free Visual Upgrades

Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux are getting free next-gen hardware updates this October. The patch brings 4K textures, controller integration, and high frame rate support across PC and consoles.

Owners of Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux are receiving a free next-gen update later this October. The release adds technical upgrades for modern PC and console hardware while keeping the core experience intact.

Visual Upgrades and Performance

The update brings 4K textures to all platforms. Consoles gain true 4K at 60FPS alongside upscaled 4K at 120FPS on compatible displays. The patch also applies higher quality lighting, shadows, particle effects, animation fidelity, and audio quality. Hardware tessellation and displacement are now supported on consoles at runtime.

Platform-Specific Additions

PlayStation 5 Pro gains PSSR support alongside Power Saver Mode. Xbox Series X receives TSR upscaling and anti-aliasing. Both Xbox consoles add Spatial Audio support, Power Optimized Mode, and Xbox Handheld and Play Anywhere compatibility. PC players receive DLSS and spatial audio support.

Hardware Integration and Fixes

Console controllers receive tactile improvements through DualSense Adaptive Triggers and Xbox Impulse Triggers. The update also includes a batch of community-requested bug fixes and quality-of-life adjustments.

Release Schedule

The update launches on October 22, 2026, for PC, and on October 29, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Japanese console players will receive the update this November.
