Korea. IL-2 Series Update 1.005 Refines Wingmen and AI Combat
Update 1.005 for Korea. IL-2 Series brings wingmen formation options, a new MiG-15 training mission, and adjustments to air combat AI. The patch also addresses engine bugs, physics issues, and lighting across multiple aircraft.
The latest patch for Korea. IL-2 Series focuses heavily on AI behavior, cockpit visibility, and bug fixes for aircraft systems. Update 1.005 gives players more control over wingmen while smoothing out tactical choices and target prioritization in the air.
Wingmen and AI Improvements
A new setting in the Game menu lets players choose how wingmen behave. By default, they follow the mission scenario until commanded otherwise, but an alternative setting keeps them locked in formation until ordered out of it. Target prioritization, evasive maneuvers, and head-on attack aiming have all been updated for AI pilots. Control surface jitter on AI planes is gone, and formation aircraft in multiplayer will no longer stop responding to commands. Piston-engine aircraft also taxi properly now at K-19 Haeju airfield.
Aircraft Systems and Physics
A variety of vehicle and flight fixes land in this update. Jet engines will no longer shut down following time skips that involve large altitude changes. The IL-10 starts correctly with the Fuel System Helper disabled if the fuel shutoff valve is open, while the F-80C-10 now requires the valve to be open to start under the same conditions. Collisions between aircraft wheels and airfield lights are less severe. Tracked vehicle physics for the IS-2, ISU-122, M19, M46, and M6 Tractor have been corrected, and vehicles entering water upside down no longer sink incorrectly.
Visuals, Cockpit Lighting, and Environment
Nighttime cockpit lighting and floodlights have been adjusted across all aircraft, and the IL-10 features corrected phosphorescent instrument scales and labels. Submerged object outlines, train wheel sparks, and ejection effects have all received updates. Directional sign arrows and medium to large building destruction effects are also fixed.
Missions, Controls, and Interface
Players can try out the new MiG-15 training mission titled Exercise 1 — Orbiting. Strategic Object Cover missions will no longer falsely report failure after all objectives are complete. The default key binding for toggling navigation lights has changed from Win + L to LShift + L to prevent conflicts with Windows shortcuts. Interface updates include fixed taxi waypoint indicators, corrected destruction message models, and updated Museum descriptions for the Yak-9P.
Why this patch matters
Update 1.005 provides necessary quality-of-life adjustments and tactical reliability for solo pilots and formation flyers alike.
