Kernel Hearts October Update 1.0.15v Adds Training Mode and Save Slots
Kernel Hearts receives its first major content update, adding a training mode, expanded tutorials, save slots, and widespread character balance adjustments. The patch also lifts the frame rate cap and addresses several multiplayer stability bugs.
Kernel Hearts director Akira released the game's first content patch ahead of schedule, delivering most of the remaining October roadmap features. Update 1.0.15v introduces a dedicated training mode, multiple save slots, customizable preset chipsets, and sweeping combat rebalances across the playable roster.
Training Mode and Expanded Tutorials
A training mode is now accessible right after the tutorial, letting players test any discovered Mementos, Relics, and enemies alongside a vertical movement challenge. The tutorial itself has been expanded to cover nearly all mechanics and hidden secrets, and it can now be replayed from the main menu. Additionally, players can now create up to three save slots with progress trackers, configure up to four preset chipsets, and re-roll spells offered on level-up screens.
Character Balance and Combat Tweaks
Fernet receives heavy attack adjustments, including increased damage against shields alongside reduced recovery frames on heavy attack 2. Laika gains increased damage on fist-mode heavy attack 3, while running light attacks can now cancel into dashes. Spika's full moon ability has its startup invincibility removed and damage redistributed, accompanied by reduced mana recovery from airborne attacks and increased mana recovery from heavy attacks and chasing the beetle. Dolce's air attacks now scale damage correctly with distance, and redemption cancel windows are shortened while loop damage increases.
Universal Rules and Enemy Adjustments
Dash animations can now be cancelled directly into jumps across the board. Soul rewards from coffin purification increase slightly, while stray soul drops decrease in Skybound Citadel, Twisted Halls, and Judecca. Enemy adjustments include moderately reduced shield points for Ground Master and Warden Angel, reduced health for several elite types, and a lower starting enemy level in Skybound Citadel.
PC Graphics, Controls, and Bug Fixes
Frame rates are no longer locked to the monitor's refresh rate, and new options include resolution quality settings and mandatory confirmation prompts for display changes. Keybinding options expand significantly, allowing WASD, emotes, UI toggles, and Mahou transformation to be rebound on keyboards. The patch also resolves the locked-out Hoarder achievement, fixes multiplayer Sin Meter lag, and repairs dual-input bugs on PlayStation and Switch Pro controllers.
Why this patch matters
Update 1.0.15v delivers heavily requested quality-of-life additions like save slots and training rooms while fine-tuning character balance and performance caps.
