Hunt: Showdown 1896 Update 2.9.1 Patch Notes

Hunt: Showdown 1896 Update 2.9.1 fixes critical exploits, including infinite Dark Sight and a geometry safe spot at First Testimonial Church against Bloodskin. The patch also introduces new DLC avatars, a premium story challenge, and several quality-of-life interface fixes.

Crytek has released Update 2.9.1 for Hunt: Showdown 1896, bringing a fresh set of DLC-linked avatars, a four-chapter premium story challenge called Cursed Kin, and a wide net of bug fixes targeting exploits, audio loops, and UI navigation across PC and consoles.

Exploits and Combat Fixes

This update plugs a critical exploit that let players generate infinite Dark Sight under specific conditions. It also patches an unintended exploit at First Testimonial Church where players could stand in a precise location to remain immune to Bloodskin's attacks. Controller players will notice a fix for inconsistent sprint controls, and a bug allowing a single trait interaction to accidentally sell two traits has been resolved.

Weapons, Challenges, and Equipment

Weapons and gear have received several correctness adjustments. The Written in Blood story challenge now properly tracks kills against Armoreds using piercing damage. The Nitro Express scope Check and Balances is no longer slightly smaller than the base scope, and Blood Testament battle pass skins can now be equipped once their item variants are unlocked. Inventory bugs affecting the Temperance and Atlas tarot cards and the Burgess shotgun animation have also been cleared.

Audio, UI, and Platform Additions

Audio issues are addressed, removing an audible lingering teleport loop for Bloodskin near boss compounds and fixing Burgess mechanical foley sounds playing too loudly while downed. Menu errors, such as missing event pass reward popups, store text mistakes for the Sage of Joseon DLC, and broken external promotion links on PlayStation and Xbox, are now fixed. Console players on PlayStation and Xbox can finally assign a quick slot button to their currently equipped item.

New Content and Customization

Players who own specific DLCs automatically receive new hunter avatars, including options for Sofia, The Miko, The Penitent, and Sgt. Bridgewater. Additionally, the new Cursed Kin premium story challenge spans four chapters, rewarding players with items such as the Cousin Jed legendary hunter, a combat axe skin named The Slasher, and custom profile customization frames and titles.

Why this patch matters

Update 2.9.1 provides necessary maintenance by closing severe gameplay exploits and smoothing out persistent platform-specific control quirks while padding out the lobby with new cosmetic challenges.
