Hunt: Showdown 1896 Update 2.9.1 Fixes Exploits and Adds DLC Avatars
Hunt: Showdown 1896 Update 2.9.1 introduces a batch of new DLC-linked player avatars, kicks off the Cursed Kin premium story challenge, and patches out an infinite Dark Sight exploit.
Crytek has released Update 2.9.1 for Hunt: Showdown 1896. The patch addresses combat exploits, smooths out interface bugs across platforms, and adds profile customization options tied to previously released downloadable content.
Exploits and Combat Fixes
The patch resolves an exploit that allowed players to activate infinite Dark Sight under specific conditions. It also fixes a geometry loophole at the First Testimonial Church compound where players could stand in a spot and avoid attacks from Bloodskin entirely. Controller players find improved consistency for sprint controls, and weapons and tools now properly contribute to the Written in Blood challenge goal for piercing damage kills against Armoreds.
Audio and UI Adjustments
Audio bugs have been addressed, including a persistent loop for Bloodskin's teleport near Boss Target compounds and excessively loud mechanical foley sounds for the Burgess while downed. Proximity chat voice volume issues have been corrected. On the menu and storefront side, the update fixes double trait selling when interacting with a single trait, ensures the Lightfoot and Catalyst trait hints match their actual behavior, and corrects storefront text for the Sage of Joseon DLC.
New Avatars and Cursed Kin Event
Players who own specific DLC packages automatically receive corresponding profile avatars, such as Death's Herald Sofia, Shrine Maiden's Hell The Miko, and The Penitent. Additionally, the update lays the groundwork for the four-chapter Cursed Kin premium story challenge, offering unlocks like the Cousin Jed hunter, a Slasher combat axe skin, and various titles and frames.
Platform-Specific Fixes
PlayStation and Xbox versions receive fixes for non-functional external promotion links and a bug that stopped players from assigning quick slot buttons to currently selected equipment. PlayStation users also experience faster image loading on frontend menus.
Why this patch matters
Update 2.9.1 cleans up gameplay exploits and audio bugs while distributing cosmetic profile rewards to existing DLC owners.
