Hunt: Showdown 1896 Update 2.0.1 Reintroduces Stillwater Bayou
Hunt: Showdown 1896 Update 2.0.1 brings back the overhauled Stillwater Bayou map on CRYENGINE 5.11, nerfs the Spear, and adjusts Rotjaw drops alongside numerous UI and bug fixes.
Crytek released Update 2.0.1 for Hunt: Showdown 1896, headlined by the return of the revamped Stillwater Bayou map. Running on CRYENGINE 5.11, the swamp biome features updated terrain, vegetation, and compound lighting. The patch also adjusts boss mechanics for Rotjaw, reduces the power of the Spear, and implements multiple quality-of-life adjustments to the user interface.
Stillwater Bayou Map Rework
Stillwater Bayou returns with a complete visual and structural overhaul powered by CRYENGINE 5.11. Key compounds including Reynard Mill & Lumber, Blanchett Graves, Lockbay Docks, Stillwater Bend, and Pitching Crematorium feature new paths, windows, doors, and access points. Developers performed a player collision pass on complex tree roots and adjusted cloth in boss lairs to improve sightlines.
Weapons and Boss Balancing
The Spear receives notable nerfs, featuring reduced melee damage and a slower light attack speed. Rotjaw now drops two Bounty Tokens instead of one and received fixes for combat pathing and reward distribution. Spawn rates for corner compounds decreased to encourage early skirmishes.
UI Adjustments and Quality of Life
The update streamlines several interface elements, adding the Bounty Hunt lobby directly to the top navigation play section and prioritizing favorite filters in the inventory. Owned items appear first, the sell confirmation pop-up on the gear screen is gone, and Blood Bond purchase options now display a gold pop-up.
Bug Fixes and Temporary Item Bans
A black screen issue upon first launch on Windows 10 and display freezes caused by Alt-Tabbing are resolved. The KDA lobby display now correctly counts assists. Due to invisible asset bugs on certain platforms, developers temporarily disabled specific hunters and items, including Lonely Howl, Witch Hunter Carter, and the Shinbatsu.
Why this patch matters
Update 2.0.1 modernizes the classic map while addressing community grievances regarding UI clutter and boss rewards, alongside weapon adjustments to the Spear.
