Hunger Patch Revamps Mastery Trees, Vendor Economy, and Extraction
Good Fun Corp released an update for Hunger featuring split mastery trees, reduced vendor margins, optimized performance, and refined extraction indicators.
Good Fun Corp has issued a refinement update for Hunger, focusing on core combat, economy balancing, traversal improvements, and system stability ahead of upcoming public playtests.
Combat and Mastery Restructuring
The mastery system has been restructured by splitting the former Martial tree into two distinct paths. Martial governs ranged combat, while the new Arms tree handles melee progression. Early melee progression bottlenecks have been removed. Lunges no longer inherit momentum from jumps or dodges, creating more predictable movement. Base movement speed has increased slightly, heavier armor carries a movement penalty, and movement speed gains feature diminishing returns.
Economy and Vendor Adjustments
Vendor profit margins have been reduced. NPC merchants now serve as practical options for equipment throughout progression rather than emergency suppliers. Additionally, protected item support has been added for specific items like Maps to prevent accidental loss during expeditions.
Extraction and Audio Improvements
Extraction balloon smoke is now visible from greater distances, and red contested smoke only appears when multiple parties are present. Audio occlusion has been fixed to ensure positional sounds like footsteps from behind are no longer incorrectly muffled.
Performance and Graphics Optimization
Performance updates reduce hitches and improve frame consistency. AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution has been added for upscaling, and CACAO ambient occlusion has been integrated with SSGI to eliminate shimmering artifacts.
Why this patch matters
This patch delivers fundamental improvements to character progression, combat predictability, and technical stability, setting a solid baseline for the upcoming open beta.
