Five Laps at Freddy's Beta Update v08 Fixes Crashes and Adds Restart Button

A new beta update for Five Laps at Freddy's tackles fatal crashes, soft locks in Sinkhole, and physics bugs on the Midnight Motorist highway. Players can also now restart races directly from the pause menu.

A fresh beta branch for Five Laps at Freddy's targets critical stability issues, unexpected boundary launches, and soft locks. Players can access this new build on Steam by entering ExoticButters in the demo properties under betas. If testing goes well, this update will transition to the main public demo.

Crash and Soft Lock Fixes

This update fixes fatal crashes triggered by Midnight Motorist highway collisions that launched karts out of bounds and invoked the WAKE UP crash state. It also resolves soft locks during track resets where the Sinkhole road splits into three ways, on the final lap of Sinkhole, and on the third loop of Sinkhole without the magnetic effect. Additionally, resets that previously canceled active laps are fixed.

Gameplay and Controls

Revert and brake speeds are increased to help unstick karts faster, though reversing remains slower than throttling. A visual effect now indicates when a kart is invincible. The pause menu finally includes a Restart Race button, and UI screen ratio errors are corrected. Stunned Endos no longer leave lingering icons on screen after the nightshift concludes, and NPCs no longer wander into off-road zones on Midnight Motorist.

Known Issues

Developers are tracking several remaining bugs in this beta build. Finishing line placements can still mismatch pole position numbers, and a double boost glitch lets players extend boosts by braking at the end. The dynamic camera behaves incorrectly upside down, and getting reset immediately after crossing the finish line can skip a lap. NPCs can also snag on environmental geometry.

Why this patch matters

This beta patch resolves the most disruptive progression blockers and crashes in the demo. While several tracking bugs remain, the addition of a restart button and improved physics recovery make testing much smoother.
