Enshrouded Update 4 Expands the Survival Game with Albaneve Summits and Townsfolk

Enshrouded Update 4 adds the treacherous Albaneve Summits mountain biome, raises the level cap to 35, and introduces dynamic weather, farm animals, and interactive townsfolk. The massive patch also brings single-player pausing, grappling hook combat updates, and a visual overhaul.

The latest Enshrouded update brings major changes to survival mechanics, base building, and exploration across Embervale. Update 4 opens the icy Albaneve Summits region, increases character progression limits, and introduces a dynamic weather system that tests player endurance in high-altitude cold.

Albaneve Summits and Progression

The northern reaches of Embervale now feature the Albaneve Summits, a high-level mountain biome accessible from the Nomad Highlands and Kindlewastes. Players need a level 6 flame and the Ghost Glider to enter the region, where enemies start at level 28. The maximum character level is now 35, supported by new Shroud roots, elixir wells, and an updated experience curve that spreads out leveling pacing across the later stages of the journey. A new tier of crafting stations, weapons, and armor sets becomes available alongside epic musical instruments.

Survival and Weather Mechanics

Exploration in high-altitude zones now requires managing extreme coldness and body heat through specialized armor, consumables, and campfires. Dynamic weather rolls across Embervale, bringing rain that extinguishes small fires and reduces enemy perception, and heavy snow in the mountains. Grappling hook utility has expanded to let players pull airborne enemies into melee range or close distances to large targets, accompanied by two new skill tree abilities. Gliding mechanics now feature air turbulence that affects flight paths, though this can be toggled off in world difficulty settings.

Townsfolk, Pets, and Base Building

Crafting NPCs and new villagers now follow a day-and-night cycle, roaming bases, talking to players, and sleeping in dedicated beds. Players can find crafting assistants to place in secondary bases for full crafting functionality away from the main settlement. Peaceful wildlife can now be tamed, sheltered, and fed to produce resources and occasionally breed offspring, while dogs and cats can be found and adopted as pets. Building options expand with six new building block materials, five terrain materials, and a reworked summoning scepter menu for managing NPC placement and roaming ranges.

Quality of Life and Combat Fixes

Single-player sessions can now be paused. The UI supports text size adjustments, and maximum buildable altars at max flame level are increased to 10. The skill tree reset cost is now calculated at 1 rune per spent point. Combat exploits involving mana-free spell casting with wands and staves have been resolved, and poison management now relies on dedicated antidotes rather than cleaned bandages.

Why this patch matters

Update 4 transforms Enshrouded by deepening base simulation and extending endgame progression, making survival in the new northern peaks a genuine test of preparation.
