Elden Ring Patch Notes Version 1.14 Adjusts Final Boss and Weapon Speeds

Elden Ring patch 1.14 introduces critical balance adjustments for the Shadow of the Erdtree final boss, increases attack speeds for numerous weapon classes, and corrects PvP damage values. The update also resolves numerous collision, quest, and performance issues across all platforms.

FromSoftware has released patch 1.14 for Elden Ring, implementing sweeping balance changes for Shadow of the Erdtree's final boss, adjusting PvP damage scaling, increasing the uncharged heavy attack speed of nearly two dozen weapon types, and squashing dozens of bugs.

Final Boss Adjustments

The final boss of Shadow of the Erdtree receives major encounter changes. The battle's opening action pattern is altered, specific attack moves are adjusted, and damage, stamina damage, and attack range for non-weapon attacks are reduced. Visual effects for certain attacks are also improved for better readability.

Weapon Speed and General Balance

Attack speed for the uncharged first heavy attack is increased across nearly twenty weapon categories, including daggers, straight swords, greatswords, colossal swords, katanas, and halberds. Hand-to-Hand Arts receive increased damage and shorter recovery times, while Colossal Swords gain increased move distance and faster initial normal attacks.

PvP Damage and Skill Adjustments

Player-versus-player combat receives dedicated balance passes. Damage is decreased for Backhand Blades, dual-wielded spears, and the Pata weapon. Skills such as Scattershot Throw, Discus Hurl, and Weed Cutter have their damage or poise values reduced against other players, and the Spread Crossbow and Scattershot Throw no longer trigger headshot damage motions in PvP.

Incantations, Spells, and Talismans

Rellana's Twin Moons spell gains increased attack range and reduced knockback. Crucible Incantations like Thorns and Bloom receive power, speed, and hitbox improvements. Rellana's Cameo Talisman activates its damage enhancement faster and yields higher bonus damage.

Bug Fixes and Performance Stability

Black Pyreflies now correctly respawn at sites of grace. The update resolves multiple unintended spell hitbox behaviors, Euporia luster bugs, and localization errors in the credits. For PC players, notes are included to address unintentional ray tracing activation, false Inappropriate activity detected warnings, and third-party mouse software framerate drops.

Why this patch matters

Patch 1.14 addresses the most punishing aspects of the expansion's final boss while broadly improving weapon handling, giving players significantly more flexibility in build pacing.
