Dungeon Settlers v0.4.29 Update Details Combat, Skill, and Inventory Changes

Dungeon Settlers v0.4.29 adds auto-pickup weight limits, fixes skill cooldowns, and adjusts recruitment growth standards while updating dungeon stay penalties and worker behavior.

Dungeon Settlers version 0.4.29 arrives with fixes and adjustments targeting combat mechanics, worker AI, inventory management, and skill behavior. Players find updated rules for auto-pickup, revised dungeon penalties, and corrected calculations for several inscriptions and skills.

Combat and Skill Fixes

Cooldown reduction properly applies to global cooldowns. Burning and Bleeding Inscriptions correctly apply critical hit effects to skill damage in addition to basic attacks. The Storm Inscription calculates additional damage using the appropriate attack stat for each damage type rather than defaulting to Physical Attack, and its surrounding attack triggers around the original target position even if the fatal hit kills them. Sword Counter triggers exclusively against melee attacks instead of countering ranged attacks. Healing Touch heals once per action when holding position and can no longer target the caster or buildings. Water Dive newly generated Bubbling stacks count toward Deep Sea stacks, and Wave Cycle reduces remaining cooldowns according to the specified rate at most once per second while triggering when a barrier is successfully granted. Become Fire scales its Magic Attack increase based on the number of Burning stacks applied by the skill rather than total stacks at casting, and removes the buff when all stacks disappear. Strange Seed healing calculates from each seed's actual summoner rather than the last summoner, and target validity is checked immediately before germination. Execution Inscription ignores player faction units.

Expedition and Recruitment Adjustments

Recruitment candidates calculate primary attribute growth at each level using the Abundant offering standard instead of Normal, and minimum growth values for primary attributes at higher talent grades increase. Candidates can no longer receive duplicate Training Inscriptions for skill trees they already possess, and attribute icons appear on the recruitment screen. When returning from a dungeon or moving floors, surviving expedition members left behind trigger a name display and require confirmation.

Movement, Work, and Storage

A weight limit option for automatic item pickup is added, defaulting to Until becoming Heavily Encumbered. Units vacating work positions after completing tasks move to nearby empty tiles after using beds, research stations, and play stations, alongside existing storage and crafting station behavior. Work position search ranges for empty tiles expand, and units can leave work positions when blocked by newly constructed walls. Tasks no longer stall when switching crafting options from Craft Until Target Quantity to Craft Continuously.

Dungeons and Penalties

Dungeon stay duration is separated from floor-specific monster patrol timers so penalty calculations continue after moving between normal floors. Saving and loading properly restores dungeon stay start times and penalty stages, calculating duration from load time for older saves without a recorded start. Existing stay effects clear when the penalty increases, preventing debuffs from different stages from remaining active simultaneously.

Interface and Options

Keybinding settings add layout display options for QWERTY, German Standard QWERTZ, French Traditional AZERTY, and Standard JIS keyboards, letting displayed key labels match the selected layout while bindings remain unchanged. A compatibility option replaces the tooltip pinning key with B for Japanese input environments, and an option confines the mouse cursor to the game screen in Borderless Windowed Mode. Autosaving without custom intervals limits automatic saves to a single slot instead of accumulating files.

Why this patch matters

Version 0.4.29 targets systemic balance issues across builds, fixes persistent progression bugs with inscriptions and skills, and smooths out worker behavior during tasks and dungeon transitions.
