Don't Fret Patch 1.1 Adds Xbox Controller Support and Performance Boosts

Don't Fret Patch 1.1 brings a 50 percent frame rate increase, Xbox controller support, and several bug fixes for progression blocks.

Patch 1.1 for Don't Fret addresses core performance issues with significant CPU and GPU optimizations while introducing native Xbox controller support and fixing multiple progression bugs.

Performance and Controller Support

The update delivers a 50 percent frame increase by reducing draw calls, visible triangles, and static mesh batching. GPU particle effects are also optimized, and the frame limit cap increases to 144. Xbox controller support is now active, though players should note that PlayStation and Steam Deck support are not yet compatible.

Bug Fixes and Progression

Several fixes resolve unintended movement and interaction bugs. Players can no longer interact with light switches from inside the waste room, move during cutscenes after their first playthrough, or use items like machines and cassette players from a distance. Dialing the wrong number on the payphone no longer triggers an infinite dial, and flashlight reloading animations now complete properly before use.

Known Issues

Xbox controllers currently lose input when interacting with specific objects such as keypads and payphones. If this happens, players must use a mouse and keyboard to progress.

Why this patch matters

Patch 1.1 makes Don't Fret run significantly smoother while opening the game up to Xbox controllers, though players using those controllers should prepare for occasional input dropouts on specific interactables.
