Don't! Fret Developer Update Outlines Full Game Transition and 2025 Release Target
Scary Kid Studios details the transition of Don't! Fret from an episodic project into a 4-to-7 hour full-length game. The team aims for a Q3 or Q4 2025 release window.
Following the October release of the Don't! Fret demo, Scary Kid Studios has shared a year-end development update detailing the scope of the upcoming full release. The project has shifted from an episodic format into a single, cohesive game targeted at a 4 to 7 hour runtime.
From Demo to Full Game
The October demo, originally intended to serve as Chapter 1 in an episodic release, received positive ratings and high community engagement. Developer Scary Kid Studios expanded the team with a full-time developer and extra support for animations and 3D modeling. The development team is overhauling core mechanics featured in the demo, including doors, portals, equipment, and enemy behaviors.
Release Window
The studio does not have a strict launch date locked in yet, but current production milestones point toward a Q3 or Q4 release window in 2025. The developers note that schedules have held steady so far, though they expect minor roadblocks as full-scale testing begins on the expanded game.
Why this patch matters
Scary Kid Studios is using the positive reception of the Don't! Fret demo to fund an expansion of the project's scope, aiming for a late 2025 release.
